A.I. - Algorithmic Interactions is an isntallation that was created from multiple moving flower like pixels that responded to the viewer. While action painting recorded the painters action in the artwork, I wanted to create a work that recorded the viewers actions. When there was no motion in the gallery, the flowers slowly opened and closed creating a soothing sound from their mechanical parts moving. When the artwork detected motion, the flowers would slam close and not move.
This created quite a site to watch in the gallery. As people realized how the artwork was reacting to them, the viewers actions would be influenced by the work and they would stand still to observe the motion until a new viewer would come into the artworks view and cause it to react to their presence.
